In his speech at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year™ 2025 Launch Ceremony in Hong Kong, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Christopher Hui, celebrated the official launch of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year™ 2025 programme and its 20th anniversary in the Greater China region. He emphasised the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in economic development, noting Hong Kong’s conducive business environment with its open market, common law system, and free flow of capital and information. Mr Hui detailed several government initiatives including enhancing access to finance for SMEs via the Commercial Data Interchange, nurturing fintech innovation through Fintech Connect, and supporting green finance with the Green and Sustainable Fintech Proof-of-Concept Funding Scheme. He also discussed embracing frontier technologies with projects such as the Generative AI Sandbox and laying the groundwork for digital finance regulation, including a regulatory regime for stablecoins and a forthcoming policy statement on virtual assets, aimed at supporting responsible innovation while protecting market integrity.
