SFC’s senior executives visit Abu Dhabi and Dubai to promote collaboration on virtual assets
SFC senior executives met with UAE regulators and Web3 industry leaders to discuss virtual assets regulation and strengthen international collaboration.

On 6 May 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission’s Executive Director of Intermediaries, Dr Eric Yip, along with Ms Elizabeth Wong, met with key regulatory authorities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, including the Securities and Commodities Authority of the UAE, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of the Abu Dhabi Global Market, the Dubai Financial Services Authority, and the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority of Dubai. The discussions focused on evolving regulatory approaches for virtual assets and best practices for supervising firms in the sector, in line with the ASPIRe roadmap. Meetings with Web3 industry stakeholders also underscored the need for regulatory clarity and consistency to support industry development. The SFC aims to deepen its international networks and position Hong Kong as a global hub for financial innovation through comprehensive oversight and collaborative partnerships.
